The Theory Of Liberal Ideology - 1143 Words

Political Science Midterm I will be speaking on important political terms, explain the development of liberal ideology in the United States of America, and touch on a few other areas of political culture. First off liberalism; liberalism is a way of political worldview by the ideas of liberty and equality. Although in a certain time in our history equality was somewhat of a lie. Slavery, racism, and feminism prove that not every single person on the planet had equal rights. In the 1650’s to 1780’s western Europe had people that were thinking of ways to enlighten the people and bring change to the world they all live in, called the Age of Enlightenment. Mostly philosophers emphasized reason, analysis, and individualism. People like†¦show more content†¦There are liberal liberals, conservative liberals, and radical liberals. Which mostly all follow the basic structure of liberalism. For example liberal liberals believe that for social safety people need help to f eed their families and take care of themselves because not everyone can make it in this world and put food in peoples mouths, afford medical insurance, civilized people try to help each other, not leave them starving and without care. On the conservative side, there views are that people should be responsible for themselves, if they are given the chance they are completely capable of supporting themselves and their families. They also believe that if government always picks up and pampers the poor or needy, they will be weak and lose their motivation to work. For money, taxes, and the part that the government plays; the conservatives believe that government should serve the people. Not the other way around. The liberals say that the proper function of a government is to solve issues, decrease poverty, protect civil rights and liberties. And to make sure that all Americans have a fair chance to succeed. The dimensions of the ideology of liberalism are political and economic liberalism. Political liberalism underlines the social contract. Where citizens can make laws and agree to follow those laws. Most people believe that individuals know what is best for them. Also it allows people to represent themselves without the need to worry

Disney s Version Of The Princess With Blonde Hair

People usually visualize Cinderella as the Disney’s version of the princess with blonde hair who ventures off to the royal ball and meets Prince Charming. Cinderella’s story has been around for many centuries, along with many different models of her story. Most viewed as the aspect of eventually escaping from her evil stepmother in the end. Cinderella was first called, Cinderwench which came about as she would sit on cinders and ashes in her story after doing chores. Eventually, the youngest sibling formatted the name to a nicer version as, Cinderella. Most people know Cinderella’s story referring to the tale created by Charles Perrault in 1697. (McIntyre 4). Charles Perrault’s story will be the main focus for this paper. He was the first to start including the pumpkin, glass slipper and the fairy godmother into the tale. His version was the outline that undertook the formation of creating Disney’s well known animation in 1950. (Donahue 2) The fairytale involves a gentleman getting remarried to a lady with two daughters along with his own, Cinderella. The second wife was not pleased to have a selfless stepdaughter being viewed much better than her own, since their personalities were opposite. She begins to assign outrageous chores and providing the attic as her bedroom. At last, a ball was announced by the King’s son as Cinderella’s stepsisters planned to go. When the day has come, the two sisters were off to the ball, leaving Cinderella in tears as it was her desire to go.Show MoreRelated Disney Princess Pictures: Chores, Mirrors, and Chameleons Essay2211 Words   |  9 PagesDisney Princess Pictures: Chores, Mirrors, and Chameleons At the start of Walt Disney Pictures’ Tangled, a title card cataloging the feature as Walt Disney Animation Studio’s 50th Animated Motion Picture appeared. Essay About Same Sex Marriages Example For Students

Essay About Same Sex Marriages There are so many factors that may affect ones view of this topic itbecomes easy to see why it is controversial. To list all of the arguments wouldbe impossible. However, by focusing on the main topics that both that bothdefend and disagree with the issue, we are able to get a brief glance at theenormity that the outcome of a problem like this carries in our society.Right from the beginning the bible states that it was not good for manto be alone; therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shallcleave unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh. (God) We can also readabout Gods discussion of unlawful marriages: Thou shalt not lay with mankind,as with womankind: it is abomination. (God) And to the people who disregardedthis, the punishment was written simply; they shall be cut off from their amongtheir people. Is it possible to say that these words that have provided strictguidelines for all these years no longer have any meaning or promise because weare no longer a people? Or is it right to think that we are adopted into thefamily of God and are now apart of His people? Who decides? What if yourfamily isnt Christian, does the law of God apply to you? (God)For years and years these were the words that nearly everyone followed. Only people who were clearly wrong dared to disobey the word of God. It wasclearly black and white, and often times church leaders were looked to foradvice on what to do when we are faced with a choice. After all, they represent Him, so they must know right from wrong. So what do we say to BishopJohn Shelby Strong who is quoted as saying, I regard the blessing of gay andlesbian couples by the church to be inevitable, right, and of a positive good. We must be willing to relinquish prejudice and turn our attention to loving ourgay and lesbian brothers and sisters, supporting them, and relating them as partof Gods creation. And how about the Roman Cardinal Basi Hume? He says thatlove between people, whether of the same sex or a different sex, is to betreasured and respected. To love another person is to have entered the area ofrichest human experience. I think that we are getting mixed messages. (Cahoon)Now entering the picture is mans interpretation of the law. This viewno longer takes into consideration anything based on Christianity, by simplywhat has been written by another person. I believe that the reason for thisturn from one written law (the bible) to another is due to the fact that it iseasier to find loop-holes in something that God had little to do with (but thisis only my belief). It is easier to see all the reasons why one can marry aperson of the same sex when you are dealing with a race that wants to beconsidered open minded and fair despite what they may know in their hearts tobe right. In the court case of Loving vs. Virginia, the appellants are fightingfor their civil right to have a (same-sex) marriage. This particular casepoints out that the right to marriage occupies an extremely venerated positionin our society. marriage exists as a protected legal institution primarilybecause of the societal values associated with the continuation of the humanrace. (Dirty) Also, it should be apparent that no same-sex couple offers thepossibility of the birth of children by their union. Many times similar casesinvolving female/female marriage or male/male marriages are refused by thecourts for this very reason. .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649 , .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649 .postImageUrl , .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649 , .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649:hover , .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649:visited , .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649:active { border:0!important; } .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649:active , .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649 .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ua697021ccf150d9a2f4ff34c50078649:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Essay On 12 Angry Men The state has the authority to refuse to authorizea same-sex marriage from the impossibility of reproduction rather than from anydiscrimination on the account of sex. It is now apparent how the law defined amarriage. Legally it is considered the union of one man and one woman. This isonly because of the unique physical characteristics of each sex in being able toreproduce. Never the less, discrimination! is screamed inside the walls ofthe court and the issue of homosexual marriage moves from a moral to an ethicalissue. Three Easy Steps On How To Avoid Being A Phony (Catcher In The Rye) Es

Three Easy Steps On How To Avoid Being A Phony (Catcher In The Rye) Everybody at one point in life has someone that he looks up to. Whether they want to ?Be like Mike? or want to be like their favorite actor, every child needs someone to be a role model. Unfortunately, many of today's idols are people who are admired simply because they can run faster, jump higher, or shoot straighter than normal people. Most people will never be able to be as physically adept as these professional athletes. However, an excellent role model is readily available for all people who are literate. Holden Caufield from The Catcher in the Rye demonstrates many qualities that people should strive for. First, Holden is someone who lets people know what he is really thinking. He does not hide what he is thinking about people even if he knows that they would not want to know the truth. When this happens, people often feel irate for knowing what another really thinks of them. Holden's transparency can be seen when he talks with Stradlater and accuses him of sleeping with a girl that Holden has feelings for. Although in the book, Stradlater got angry at Holden, he should be happy. It is always better to know where one stands, than to have a misconception on what that person really thinks. If more people indicated their true feelings, fewer people would have psychological disorders from pent up emotions. Second, Holden Caufield is someone who is brutally honest. It was once said ?the truth shall set you free?. If this is true, then Holden is one of the freest people ever. Holden is a guy who will speak his mind no matter what, even if it is something the person he was talking to did not want to hear. This can be seen by the way he talks about ?phonies?. A phony is someone who is a complete fake and insincere. Holden has the lowest regard for these people, even though he has admitted to being one at different points. That takes a lot of courage to be that honest. When he knows that he has been wrong, he admits it. This is another reason why people should try to take on qualities of Holden Caufield. Finally, Holden Caufield has great qualities, such as people can learn from his actions. When Holden makes a mistake, he accepts it and moves on. An example of this is when he hires the prostitute, and then does not feel like using her. Instead of trying to get out of his arrangement with her, he just talks to her, and then pays. This indicates that even though he screwed up, and knew it, he will pay what he owes. The book also shows the ramifications for each action that Holden does. One could infer that even when Holden knows he screws up, he still tries to do the right thing. Therefore, Holden is the perfect role model because the reader can learn from Holden's mistakes and avoid making them himself. Holden Caufield truly should be one of America's heroes. Forget the super athletes in professional sports. Their physical abilities are not achievable for most people. Instead, have a role model that most people can be like. To be a happy person, all that is needed is to indicate emotions, to be honest, and to learn from mistakes. If people could be more like that, then the world would be a happier and more successful place for everybody. Book Reports
